What is Holistic Living?
Holistic living is a lifestyle that unites your mind, body, and soul – a beautiful dance where everything is connected. It is all about understanding that all parts of us are deeply connected and impact each other. Like everything in nature, everything needs to be in harmony for us to truly thrive.
Through holistic living, you embrace the idea that a balance between all aspects of yourself is essential for a healthy and fulfilling life. It is not just about yoga and meditation (though those are part of the process); it’s about figuring out what works best for your unique body, mind, and spirit.
My journey began when I struggled daily with anxiety, and I found that holistic living was the answer.
The Start of My Holistic Living Journey
Welcome, beautiful soul, to the safe space where we explore the magic of holistic living. Everything I share comes from my journey – a journey that led me from struggling daily with anxiety to embracing holistic living. It all started with the idea of finding my why and letting it guide the way.
Why did I start this blog, you ask?
Because when you love something, you do it every day.
When you do it every day, you improve.
When you improve, you become the best version of yourself.
Remember, self-development is an ongoing adventure, not a final destination. Each day brings new lessons and opportunities to grow. Sharing my story is my way of becoming the best I can be and hopefully supporting you on your unique journey.
The Importance of Mind, Body, and Soul
My holistic living journey started when anxiety tried to take over my life. Dealing with it daily was a constant struggle, and I was obsessed with finding solutions. I tried everything from traditional therapies to alternative approaches. And if I say everything, I mean EVERYTHING (but I will go into that later). I was so determined to find a solution without relying on medication because, deep down, I knew this would not fix the root problem. There was this little voice in my head that constantly said, “You can do it. You will find a way!” And that’s where my journey began.
Holistic Living Fundamentals
Holistic living is about finding harmony and balance between the mind, body, and soul. When these three elements work in unison, your life becomes more fulfilling, peaceful, and energized.
Mind
- Practice mindfulness – whether it’s a bit of meditation, mindful eating, or walks in nature, anything that brings you into the present moment counts. Living in the now is the only thing we truly have. Enjoy the moment and appreciate the things around you.
- Minimize negative thoughts – practice positive thinking, even in the face of challenges. Yes, yes, yes I know… it’s easier said than done. Count your blessings when times get tough – you are breathing, you have food in your fridge, and you are surrounded by loved ones. It’s a game-changer for your mental well-being!
- Continuous learning – engage your mind with new knowledge. Whether it is reading books, or attending workshops or courses. Learning stimulates mental agility and growth.
Body
- Eat whole, organic foods – strive to eat clean 80% of the time, and allow yourself 20% guilt-free with your favorite treats. For me, it’s pistachio ice cream and almond croissants – yum!
- Daily movement – find out what works best for you and do it at least 30 minutes a day. Whether it is yoga, lifting weights, or simply walking in nature. Speaking of nature, find ways to go outdoors at least ONCE a day! Nature does wonders for our whole being.
- Get plenty of sleep – aim to sleep 7-9 hours of quality sleep. It’s a non-negotiable for a healthy lifestyle.
Soul
- Find your purpose – simply chasing after money, power, or trends will always keep you wanting more and never at peace. When you know your purpose, it becomes easier to stay on track.
- Connect with nature – nature can nurture the soul. The ocean cleanses us, the forest gives us serenity, and the mountains offer strength. Nature offers us a unique power to rejuvenate and ground us.
- Practice gratitude – make a habit of daily gratitude. Acknowledge the little and big things you’re thankful for. Every morning, I count my blessings for the past 24 hours. You can also do it before going to bed too, by thanking the Universe for the beautiful moments in your life.
Final Thoughts on Holistic Living
Remember, holistic living is a journey and not a destination. There will be times when you feel like giving up, but remember your WHY, and I know you will push through! Aligning your mind, body, and soul is the best gift you can give yourself. I am rooting for you!
